General Availability for XR90, XR80, and RX55 AirLink® Routers
Sierra Wireless has announced that AirLink OS 4.1 is now available for XR90, XR80, and RX55 AirLink Routers. This new release includes a number of feature updates and enhancements as well as general stability improvements and addresses previously reported security and field-reported issues.
It is recommended that all customers upgrade their XR and RX routers to AirLink OS 4.1 to receive the benefits of these fixes.
New Features and Enhancements
A selection of new features and enhancements are listed below. This is not a full list, please see additional documentation for the full list and additional details.
- Added ability to display external modem information for HPUE modems connected through Ethernet
- Enhanced IP Passthrough configuration
- Added the ability to add and edit SIM PIN for security
- Added Simple Captive Portal to offer a customizable landing page for Wi-Fi users
- Added the ability to prioritize VPN tunnels
- Enhanced radio module firmware management with a variety of features
- Doubled the size of audit logs
- Reformatted identifiers for select settings (see documentation) so that partial templates can be supported across fleet of routers
Bug Fixes
A number of bug fixes were made, including - but not limited to - those listed below. For a full list of bug fixes, please see the additional documentation.
- Resolved issue where certificate .pem was not added to template
- Resolved issue where selecting a setting inside a table would sometimes cause template to fail
- Resolved issue where a new LAN segment could be created and misconfigured, but then not resolved by editing, deleted, or re-creating
- Resolved issue where Edit option was available for all Multi-WAN rules when it should have only applied to Signal Strength rules
- Resolved issue where starting a ping from source interface part of a bridge was not possible
- Resolved issue where ALMS could persist in reporting the cellular Adapter Status as “No
Service” when the cellular interface is connected and reporting the correct status to ALMS.
Security
- Added extra input validation on some Captive Portal settings
- Deprecated aes256-ctr and aes128-ctr ciphers
- Updated OpenSSL to 3.0
Known Issues
There are some known issues, including - but not limited to, those listed below. For a full list of bug fixes, please see the additional documentation.
- 5F SA bands are not available when using Telus radio module firmware
- After entering SIM PIN, the field indicates an incorrect entry with the text “SIM PIN should be 4-8 digits long” although the entry is valid
- AirLink OS does not support multiple IPv6 addresses assign dvia SLAAC/DHCPv6 - only the last IPv6 address will be used
- “5G-SA Only” appears in the Preferred Technology menu when the router has a non-5G radio module
