Cradlepoint NetCloud Manager Release Notes 2022
This article describes the changes made to NetCloud Manager (NCM) versions from the beginning of 2022 up until today. For release notes from 2021, click here.
Important Note: NetCloud Perimeter (NCP) will be deprecated from NetCloud subscriptions and plans on June 30, 2023. NCP features and networks will continue to be available with current licensing until the deprecation date.

Improvements

NetCloud API: Added a field for IPv6 addresses ("ipv6_address") to the net_devices endpoint. This field is a string value similar to the ipv4_address field and can be filtered with the "__in" and "=" operators.

AP22 Access Points: When updating AP22s from older firmware to NetCloud OS 7.22.100, users are not prompted about a downgrade.

User Profiles: The capability for users to edit their profiles (first/last name, email, MFA settings, etc) while collaborating into another account has been disabled. Profile settings can be edited users after returning to their primary account.

- ALERTS & LOGS: Updated the user interface of the ALERTS & LOGS page to match the rest of NetCloud Manager. This update is for user-interface look-and-feel consistency and doesn't change the functionality of the ALERTS & LOGS page.

- Change License: The Change License feature (ACCOUNT > Subscriptions > Licensed Devices) is available for all users as an Early Access feature. The Change License feature allows you to change the base subscription (i.e. Essentials) of a single device, or multiple devices of the same product family, based on the device’s subscription compatibility and available licenses.

- Device Dashboard > Interfaces: Enabled IPV6 visibility for WAN interfaces. Devices with IPV6 addresses available are shown in the Devices > Network Interfaces table and on the device dashboards of individual devices, on the Interfaces tab.

- Insights > Network > Data Usage: Resolved an issue with the Insights Data Usage report that was resulting in a server error.

- Band Masking: The Band Masking feature configures modems to prevent specified bands from being advertised to cell towers as being supported by the modem. Note that masked bands can't be assigned or used by the modem. The Band Masking feature requires NetCloud OS 7.22.60 and newer.
- Check Band Masking status on the Device Dashboard at Home > Interfaces > Networks on the modem card. Band Masking status can also be checked via the NetCloud API's net_device_metrics endpoint "bmask_applied" field.

Improvements
- NetCloud Logins: Single-sign on functionality has been added to NetCloud to simplify the login process for NetCloud services including NetCloud Manager, NetCloud Perimeter, Cradlepoint Cascade and the Customer Community. NetCloud Single Sign On requires only one set of credentials for logging into these NetCloud services. In addition, while you have an active login to any of these services you do not need to log in again to access any of the other services.
- Data Usage Alerts: Data usage alerts are now sent only for devices licensed under Branch, Mobile (Essentials + Advanced) and IOT, Adapters (Advanced Only) subscriptions.

- Resource Center Feedback Sharing: Functional cookies for NetCloud Manager are now disabled by default. This hides the "Share Your Feedback" link in the Resource Center. To see and use the "Share Your Feedback" feature, click the "Cookies" link in the lower-right corner of NetCloud Manager, ensure the "Functional Cookies" option is toggled on, and then click the "Confirm My Choices" button.

- GeoView: Added the following features to GeoView's Location Service Settings.
- Serving Cell Tower: Displays the serving cell tower for devices on the Device Dashboard GeoView map and includes details about the cell tower such as the connected modem, carrier, and bands.
- Auto Detect Location with Serving Cell Tower: Allows NetCloud Manger to automatically detect the approximate location of a router based on the serving cell tower the device is connected to instead of using only GNSS/GPS for device detection. This is available on the Account, Group and Device Geoview dashboards.
- Please note that these GeoView features require an Advanced license.
- Insights > Report Sharing: Added the capability to share Insights reports via email with other NetCloud Manager users.
- Account > Subscriptions> Product Last date of Support: This feature highlights the products in customer accounts that are reaching their last date of support for the current calendar year or the next calendar year. This feature enables customers and partners to plan accordingly as they start replacing those products.

- Device Dashboard > Client Data Usage by Day: Corrected an issue that caused the Client Data Usage by Day dashboard to show data for the first selected client but not update for subsequently-selected clients.

TOOLS > SDK: Clarified the user-interface message used when deleting SDK apps deployed in a group. This message reminds users that SDK apps must be removed from groups before they can be deleted.

Location Services: Updated the Location Services documentation to explain that when adding a device to a group, the device assumes the group's configuration rather than retaining the device configuration.

Insights > Reports Logos: .SVG files are no longer supported for use as logos on Insights reports. PNG and JPEG files can be used for report logos.

- Device Dashboard: Released the updated Networks and Ports tabs on the Home > Interfaces page. The Networks tab allows you to view real-time information on your WANs and LANs using an easier-to-read card layout. The Ports tab displays real-time port information for your device's SFP ports including the status, link speed and POE information for each port.

- NetCloud Push API/Webhooks: Introduced a standard pattern that webhook URLs must follow to be valid. Standardizing the URL patterns for webhooks allows for consistency and better interoperability between customer systems and the NetCloud API. Webhook URLs now have the following requirements.
- Webhook destination URLs can include a port number of either 443 or 8443. Destination URLs without a specified port default to port 443 and are also valid.
- HTTPS is required, HTTP is not allowed.
- Hosts must be a non-numeric FQDN.
- Hosts must be resolvable by public DNS.
- Hosts must not be an internal LAN IP address.
- Device Dashboard Interfaces Page: Updated the layout of the Home > Networks tab to replace the table layout for network interfaces with a card-based layout. The network interfaces cards provide an easier-to-read summary of your network interfaces and are clickable for more details on each interface.

- Device Dashboard Header: Added the ability to view active LAN and port information in real time for each device with the updated and improved Device Dashboard Header. Click the Ports image on the Device Dashboard Header to open the Ports page and view real-time information for the device's ports.

Client Data Usage: Fixed a bug that was causing duplicate entries on the Account Dashboard > Data Usage > Clients Connected by Day and Group Dashboard > Data Usage > Client pages. The duplicate entries appeared in the tables and the .CSV exports on these pages.

Device Dashboard: Corrected a resizing issue with the chart on the Data Usage > WAN page that occurred after filtering the chart.

Devices > Network Interfaces: Made minor adjustments to the PLMN and LAC/TAC fields in the Network Interfaces table.

- Device Dashboard: Added the Ports tab (Early Access) on the Home > Interfaces page to display information about your device's ports. This includes the port's ID, link status, and POE settings. Click a port in the Ports table to open the Details panel for more information on the selected port.
Improvements
- Device Dashboard Cellular Health: When viewing cellular-health data for an individual device, the .CSV data-download button has been made unavailable when "Last 12 Hours" is selected for the date/time range.

- Exporting Account Information: Account information exported from the Accounts > Users page now shows the correct user type for Collaborator Users and System Administrators in the exported information's "NetCloud User Type" column.

The exported information was previously showing the account’s Collaborator Users with the user type from their own accounts instead of as “Collaborator” in the account being viewed.

System Administrators for the account being viewed were shown in the exported information as “rootAdmin” instead of correctly as “System Administrator.”
