Accessing the Setup Pages of a Cradlepoint Endpoint
Use this article to learn how to access the setup pages/Device UI of your Cradlepoint endpoint for making configuration changes and troubleshooting.
Summary
Cradlepoint devices allow direct-access to their administrative console user-interfaces (device UI) for making configuration changes and for troubleshooting. This article describes the two methods for accessing Cradlepoint device administrative user-interfaces.
Configuration
Configuration Difficulty: Beginner
The following sections list Cradlepoint’s recommended and alternate methods for accessing the setup pages/Device UI on endpoints.
Recommended Method for Device UI Access: NetCloud Manager
NetCloud Manager (NCM) allows access to device user-interfaces as part of its Remote Connect functionality. Use the following steps to access a device’s UI from NCM.
- Log into NCM using this link: NCM Login Page.
- Click on the DEVICES tab, then select the router whose device UI you want to access.
- Click the Remote Connect menu, and then select Connect to Device UI.
- Log in to the device from the LOGIN screen.
- You can now configure or troubleshoot NCOS on the device.
Alternate Method for Device UI Access
Cradlepoint devices can be connected to directly using a Web browser, using the following steps. However, connecting using NCM’s Remote Connect menu is the recommended method.
- Connect your computer to the Cradlepoint router with an Ethernet cable or wireless connection. See Connecting a Computer to a Cradlepoint Router for more information.
- Open a web browser, such as Chrome, Firefox or Internet Explorer, type https://192.168.0.1 in the address bar, and then press the Enter or Return key on your keyboard.
Note: This site is hosted locally on your Cradlepoint router, so you do not need internet access to view this page.
- You should see a page with the Cradlepoint logo prompting you to enter a User Name: and Password:. The default user name is admin. If you are not sure what your password is, or it isn’t being accepted, see Default Password.
- After you have entered your username and password, you will be logged into the Dashboard page of your Cradlepoint’s administration console and will be able to modify the router’s settings. Please refer to your router’s Cradlepoint Product or User Manual for a full explanation of available configuration options.
Troubleshooting
Note: If you are having trouble accessing the router’s admin page, first try using a laptop or desktop computer (Mac or PC). Other types of devices, such as smartphones, may not have the capability to correctly display the router’s setup pages.
Login Page Doesn’t Display
- Your PC may not have an IP address assigned to it. See How to Set a Computer to Accept DHCP Addressing for information on how to automatically assign an IP address to your PC.
- Verify there is an actual connection between your computer and the Cradlepoint router. Refer to Connecting a Computer to a Cradlepoint Router for additional setup considerations and troubleshooting steps.
- Some computers do not allow multiple network connections. Ensure that your computer is connecting ONLY to the Cradlepoint router by disconnecting all other wired and wireless network connections. This includes physical connections with any modems or air-cards, switches, and other routers, and any wireless connections.
- Some browsers include both an address bar and a search bar. Make sure you are typing the address of the Cradlepoint router into the main address bar.
- Some browsers include a combined address bar and search bar. To prevent the browser from looking for the router admin page on the web, unplug your modem from the Cradlepoint router.
- Note: Do not plug the modem into your computer; simply leave it unplugged for the duration of making changes within the Cradlepoint setup pages.
- If you suspect the router’s address may have been changed, try navigating to https://cp/ instead.
Login Page Is Blank
- When using Internet Explorer: If you see the Cradlepoint logo, but don’t have the option to enter the password, you may need to Enable Compatibility View Mode (Problems with Internet Explorer: Enable Compatibility View).
- If you are still having difficulty logging in to the router, disable any extra add-ons by going to Tools -> Manage Add-Ons.
- You might consider using a different web browser such as Firefox, Chrome, or Safari to access the administration pages.
