Fast food chains need solutions that enable near 100% uptime at every location to ensure client transactions happen without delay. While most hardline internet service providers boast over 99% uptime, that remaining 1% can cost a business hundreds to thousands of dollars. After one fast food chain valued loses at over $2,500 per location per month, they started looking for ways to supplement existing ISP provided connectivity. They needed to install redundant systems and hardware capable of operating over fast and secure 4G/5G cellular networks anytime one of their hard-lines goes down.
Solution Overview
Cradlepoint 5G Wideband Adapters and Poynting 5G Antennas
After an extensive analysis, they realized redundancy via cellular networks was the most cost effective solution. Accordingly, they reached out to the cellular experts at USAT to help them identify and procure the best hardware to achieve their uptime goals. It was critical that the solution we provided be able to work within their existing network infrastructure. To supplement their ISP provided T1 modems we recommended the addition of Cradlepoint W1850 Wideband 5G Adapters to provide automatic and lightning fast cellular failover.
Along with their new W1850 wideband adapters, our client was also concerned about the availability of cellular coverage in some of their more rural locations. We recommended two things; one that they utilize Verizon, America’s most reliable network provider, and two, that they procure specialized signal boosting Poynting XPOL-2-5G-US antennas - powerful and purpose-built to military specs and capable of withstanding harsh outdoor conditions.
The W1850 5G Adapters are purpose-built for deployment in the new high-performance low-, mid-band 5G spectrum. To address the tradeoff of lower propagation, Cradlepoint designed the W-Series adapter to be placed separately from the router for optimal signal reception. The stylized W1850 5G Adapter is designated for optimal indoor placement.
The XPOL-2-5G-US antenna includes the newer 3400 – 3800 MHz bands, which were not previously covered by our V2 and is suitable for 2G, 3G, 4G & 5G. This antenna performs exceptionally well in the following frequency bands: 617-894 MHz, 1700 – 2170 MHz, 2300 – 2700 MHz & 3400 –3800 MHz. In addition to the new bands, the gain in the 1700 MHz and 2.7 GHz is around 3 dB higher than the “V2” over the same frequency bands.
